Introducing i1iSis OBC (Optical Brightener Correction)

X-Rite is pleased to announce the industry's first complete optical brightener correction (OBC) solution for solving proof and print color matching challenges caused by optical brighteners.

Optical Brightening Agents (OBAs) are increasingly used by paper mills and premium inkjet paper manufacturers to make a yellowish paper appear whiter and brighter. Until now, color measurement and management technologies have not been able to effectively compensate for the color variations caused by OBAs.

The new X-Rite i1iSis OBC technology, when combined with our high-end profiling software, offers a complete solution for high-end applications requiring consistent color measurement and visualization of printed output in the prepress (proofing), printing and photo (hi-end studio printing and fine art) markets.

The OBC Module (Regularly $300) includes the OBC software module and the OBC Standards Card.

You will now be able to achieve visual equivalence between color measurement results from instruments and visual appearance within a light booth. You can now print with confidence using papers containing OBAs and expect the best color results for their finished images.

i1iSis OBC Technology & Process

i1iSis has the unparalleled advantage over other automated measurement devices. It utilizes a unique spectral measurement technology and additional UV LED illumination features that allow users to capture the full spectral data of measured charts. And now, together with our patent-pending detection and correction technology, users will be able to effectively and precisely compensate for color shifts caused by OBAs, while taking full advantage of the higher whiteness levels and sharper image contrasts offered by substrates containing OBAs.

Process at a glance:

1. Print test chart and measure with i1iSis in dual mode (UVonly and UVcut) OBC software.

2. Print UV Checker Greypatch Chart (from program) and visually compare with supplied OBC Standards Card. Mark best matching patches in OBC software.

3. New optical brightener compensated measurements are calculated for export to ProfileMaker5 or MonacoPROFILER to generate accurate ICC profile.

XL can read anastonishing 2,500 patches printed on a single A3 page!
